GENERAL INFORMATION

The city of Sivas (population is about 225,000), located on the River Kizilirmak in the East of Central Anatolia, is one of the important cities in Turkey, which has been a cradle of prominent civilisations and the center of science and culture with her famous medresses throughout history. It can be reached by rail or highway, after a journey of 440 kilometres from Ankara. Sivas is the geometric center of Anatolia and rightly known as “the place where the Turkish Republis was founded”. The altitude of Sivas is ca. 1,300 meters with a terrestrial climate, thereby famous cold winters. However, owing to artificial lakes built recently, the natural climate of this area is getting warmer. Living expenses in the city is relatively cheap, that is tailored for students. About 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are currently enrolled in Cumhuriyet University. The University has an own campus, 7 km away from the city center.

ACCOMMODATION and REGISTRATION

The accommodation of the participants will be in the Buyuk Hotel (a four star hotel), DSI Guesthouse, the Teacher’s House and TEDAS guesthouse in Sivas.

The registration fee includes participation in all conference sessions, conference kit, accommodation, all meals, get-together party, gala-evening and a day tour to Sivas and to Kangal Spa. A special program will be prepared for the accompanying persons, but they could not participate to the scientific sessions. The conference will basically be sponsored by the Governor of Sivas, the Cumhuriyet University and the Kangal Spa Facilities. Registration will start on Monday, June, 16, 2003 in the Cultural Center of the Cumhuriyet University (Sivas), beginning at 10 a.m. During the days of the Conference the registration desk will be open between 8.30 and 17.00 hrs. On-site registration at the Conference is possible.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the Conference is English. Oral and poster presantations will be held in Culture Center of Cumhuriyet University.

TOURS AND SOCIAL EVENTS

On Monday, June 16, 2003 a get-together party is planned in the museum of Ismet Inonu (Center of Sivas). On Friday June 20, a gala evening will be organized in the Buyuk Hotel. On Thursday June 19 a day-tour will be organized to visit the city of Sivas, Kaplica Balikli Spa and Divrigi. On Saturday and Sunday (June 21-22) and for a fee of approximately 50 US$, the participants will have the opportunity to participate to a two-day trip to Capaddocia (Urgup and Goreme), one of Turkey’s most famous tourist sides.

There will be a social program for accompanying persons. More information will be available in the website of the conference and at the registry desk.

ARRIVAL TO TURKEY AND SIVAS

Participants from abroad are advised to fly to the International Airport of Istanbul and take a connection to Kayseri. Sivas can be reached by bus, which leaves from the Kayseri (Central Bus Terminal) every half an hour. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. The organizing committee will organize a shuttle bus between Kayseri and Sivas but does not take the responsibility to pick-up every participant from the airport. Please indicate the exact arrival time to the Local Organizing Committee. We will make all efforts to pick every participant at the airport of Kayseri.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY

A general assembly of the International Society on Biotherapy will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2003. Participants are invited to participate and to become members of the Society.
